Learning is a life-long passion - I learn by doing, by reading, by working, by traveling, by conversing, by spending time with a special companion, by raising children, by mentoring and teaching.

Most profoundly, I Love Travel. I have always loved travel. If I've been there, I want to go back; if I haven't been there, I want to go there. I carry my passport(s) wherever I go; I also have several currencies in my travel case - and language dictionaries on my phone. I've always been fascinated by the stories that people tell - like the gate guard (German) who was a POW at a US camp; or a guy in the row behind me (flying to Crete) telling his companion of the night he parachuted into Iraklion - and I enjoy these stories so much more when in their native tongue. Over the years, I have visited, lived in, worked in 34 countries, and in many of those I've spent months and even years living among the people. Once I flew to Keukenhof Gardens (Netherlands) for a weekend because the tulips were in peak bloom; another time I flew to Frankfurt, got off the plane, and two hours later, got on another, and flew back, just for the frequent flyer miles

I was born with a bucket list five hundred thousand miles long and I've enough for several lifetimes. Since I will not be given several lifetimes, I need to be focused, choosy, and efficient.

What am I passionate about? EVERYTHING. What am I grateful for? EVERY BREATH, and EVERY MOMENT that GOD has given me. I love to laugh, and I love to make others laugh as well. Nikos Kazantzakis, one of my favorite authors (one among so many) wrote: “All my life one of my greatest desires has been to travel-to see and touch unknown countries, to swim in unknown seas, to circle the globe, observing new lands, seas, people, and ideas with insatiable appetite, to see everything for the first time and for the last time, casting a slow, prolonged glance, then to close my eyes and feel the riches deposit themselves inside me calmly or stormily according to their pleasure, until time passes them at last through its fine sieve, straining the quintessence out of all the joys and sorrows.”
